Markus Hausmann (RFWU Bonn): Equivariant formal group laws and complex cobordism
Abstract
A classical theorem of Quillen identifies the complex cobordism ring with the Lazard ring, giving rise to a rich dictionary between stable homotopy theory and the theory of formal group laws. In 2000, Cole-Greenlees-Kriz introduced an equivariant version of the Lazard ring for all abelian compact Lie groups and conjectured that it agrees with the equivariant complex cobordism ring. They gave strong evidence for this conjecture, but so far the only non-trivial group for which it has been proved is the cyclic group of order 2, by work of Hanke-Wiemeler. In this talk I will explain a proof of the conjecture for all abelian compact Lie groups.
